Gershon Veroba has spent his life bridging the divide between Jewish and secular music. In the studio and on stage, he has consistently delivered and unparalleled level of passion, spirituality and soulfulness, while retaining the elements that have made him a favorite for years.
Born into a musical family, Gershon grew up with music everywhere in his home, in a predominantly non-Jewish neighborhood in Larchmont, NY, the surroundings that eventually shaped his career. His father was Cantor Abraham Veroba, a”h, a child prodigy trained by the famous Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt, a”h, and his mother was an opera singer reaching to the heights of NYC Opera, becoming a radio host and solo artist.
His history is as unique as his talents, a soloist in his dad’s choir, a musical show-off as a teenager, then a wedding bandleader, recording artist and producer as an adult.
The vast tastes he attached himself to came from radio, movies and TV. Variety shows, musicals, performers like Dean Martin, Glen Campbell, Sinatra & Andy Williams, composers like Bacharach and Mancini, singer songwriters like Carole King, James Taylor & Stevie Wonder, groups like the Beatles, Eagles, Bread, The Carpenters and Steely Dan; a unique arsenal of styles that formed Gershon’s life.
Gershon lived through many changes and challenges in life to become the legend he is today, inspiring not only his audiences, but also today’s artists, breaking old barriers to create original material with unprecedented polish and style. Recording, producing and performing around the world, alongside virtually all the biggest Jewish entertainment producers and performers, most often as friends, Gershon has always been a sure-fire “magic-bullet” to hundreds of successful projects, adding contemporary ingredients not as accessible to artists with more traditional backgrounds.
Today, his work has become stronger than ever. His newest project, the Israeli-based “Ani Yisrael” album, contains strong ties to Israel and the newer styles of popular Jewish music he helped create and continues to innovate, with guest artists, today’s best composers and a level of production even Gershon never reached until now. “Ani Yisrael” marks a new era for Gershon and for Jewish music, with the release of videos and launching new business ventures that put him and Town 6 Entertainment in the forefront of today’s musical landscape.
