Spending his life bridging the divide between Jewish and secular music in the studio and on stage, Gershon consistently delivers an unparalleled level of passion, spirituality and soulfulness, while retaining the elements that have made him a favorite for years.
He was born into a musical family, in a non-Jewish neighborhood in Larchmont, NY, an origin that eventually helped shape his career. His father, Abraham, a”h, was a child prodigy discovered and trained as a cantor by the famous Joseph Rosenblatt, a”h, and his mother was an NYC Opera singer, radio host and solo artist who chose her religious home life to be her priority.
His history is as unique as his talents…a soloist in his dad’s choir as a child, a musical show-off as a teenager, then a bandleader, recording artist and producer as an adult.
His broad choice of influences included radio, Broadway and Hollywood; TV Variety show performers like Dean Martin, Glen Campbell, Sinatra, Andy Williams and Matt Munro, composers like Bacharach and Mancini, singer songwriters like Carole King, Elton John, James Taylor & Stevie Wonder, groups like the Beatles, Eagles, Bread, Carpenters and Steely Dan; a unique spectrum of styles that formed his life.
Gershon lived through many changes and challenges to become the legend he is today, inspiring his fans that include many of today’s artists, breaking old barriers and creating new excitement with unprecedented polish and style.
Recording, producing and performing around the world alongside virtually all the biggest Jewish producers and performers, Gershon has elevated hundreds of projects, introducing sounds and styles that came more naturally to him than Jewish artists from more traditional backgrounds.
Today, his work is stronger than ever. His first original solo album in 10 years, Ani Yisrael, fuses his strong ties to Israel with the rich pop influences he introduced years ago. Stepping into cultural outside his own, he also successfully teamed up with superstar guest artists and today’s best composers, leaping into a vastly superior level of production.
As both Gershon and Jewish music business enter a new era, he is launching new material, videos and business ventures that are putting him and Town 6 Entertainment Corp. in the forefront of today’s musical landscape.
